Welcome from the Principal
Our College is a unique place. Of all the students who attend our Open Days, which are held throughout the year, 90% say they will apply to come to Writtle. The campus is a warm, friendly student village, located within a beautiful parkland campus and landscaped gardens, two miles from hectic entertainment and shopping complexes in Chelmsford and within easy striking distance of the heart of London. Writtle offers the benefits of both rural and urban lifestyles which means our students find it easy to adjust and quickly make Writtle their second home.
There is a real community atmosphere on campus, where strong bonds of friendship are made and our students are all known as individuals. Students come from 50 different countries to study at Writtle, which makes the student village a lively, cosmopolitan place to be. Through our links with academic institutions across the world, our students gain an international perspective on their studies, as well as opportunities to travel abroad.
We take pride in providing our students with valuable insight into the world of work, backed up by comprehensive careers guidance and the flexibility to specialise according to their own individual strengths and aspirations. In developing our curriculum, we call upon the advice and recommendations of national and international key players in industry via formal advisory panels. Working with the University of Essex, our academic standards and practices are constantly reviewed and Writtle maintains an excellent record for curriculum provision, teaching and learning resources.
As a result, our students benefit from excellent job prospects and employers continue to turn to Writtle first for graduates who will bring valuable industrial insight and a robust academic background to their operations.
Don't just take my word for it. Come and visit us to see us in action and find out whether Writtle feels right for you.

Welcome from the Students' Union President
The College is surrounded by countryside which provides a quaint peaceful surrounding. This is enhanced by the College campus itself where you will find carefully sculptured gardens designed by Writtle’s students. The idyllic location of the College is just over two miles away from Chelmsford, the county town of Essex where you will find all forms of leisure opportunities. London is a 40 minute train journey from Chelmsford. The village of Writtle is just two minutes walk away, where you can reach pubs, restaurants, a supermarket and other amenities.
The College has many friendly and welcoming halls of residence, located on campus, providing easy access to all facilities at College including; lecture halls, computer rooms and the Recreational Centre. The Centre is the hive of student life and home to the bar where many Union events are held throughout the year, including bands, balls, quiz nights and fancy dress parties.
The relatively small size of the student body enables tutors to establish individual ability quickly, ensuring each student reaches their full potential and to advise on progression to the next level beyond graduation.
The wide range of courses, great facilities and high level of teaching are not the only achievements that the College can boast. The College have many sports teams, such as Football, Clay Shooting and the Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams which play in regular fixtures and take part in national leagues and cups.
