Writtle College is an exceptional higher education institution in which to study. UK Fees
For the academic year 2012/13, Writtle College will be charging £8000 per year for all undergraduate courses.In order to help you understand the increase in fees you may wish to visit the websites listed in our ‘Useful Link’ section below.
The main points to remember are:
- If you are from England and studying for your first degree you will not have to pay your tuition fees upfront
- Student loans are available from the Government
- You do not have to begin repayment of your loan until you are earning over £21,000 per year
- You can get support from the Government towards your living costs (such as food, accommodation and travel)

International Fees
For the academic year 2012/13, Writtle College will be charging £9250 per year for all undergraduate courses and £9750 per year for all postgraduate courses.For more information on our International Fees please click here.
Academic Achievement Bursaries
A new scholarship programme at Writtle College for 2012.All new Writtle College undergraduate students enrolling on a full-time BSc or BA programme who have achieved AAB grades at A level or equivalent (e.g. triple distinction at National Diploma) will automatically be eligible to receive this bursary.
The bursary is worth £2500 in total. The first year is payable as a £1500 waiver from College accommodation costs and the second year is payable as a cash bursary. Students selecting Writtle College as their firm choice via UCAS and achieving at least AAB at A-level or equivalent will be entitled to the bursary.
Terms and conditions
- The bursary is available to all new full-time UK and EU students.
- The award of a bursary can only be made to applicants accepting an offer from Writtle College as their Conditional Firm (CF) or Unconditional Firm (UF) choice.
- A-level General Studies is not included in the AAB Bursary terms.
- Students must maintain a 2:1 (60%) average across their first year modules to receive the second bursary instalment.
- Only one Writtle College scholarship or bursary can be held at one time, including those provided by the Writtle College National Scholarship Programme (NSP).
- Any applicant who declines a place in College accommodation for the first year is not entitled to a cash bursary as an alternative.
- The bursary cannot be deferred, i.e. the full-time programme must commence in autumn 2012.
- We endeavour to ensure that our published information is correct. However, Writtle College accepts no legal liability for errors or omissions and reserves the right to make changes without notice.
Writtle College Bursaries
In addition to Government-funded support, the College also provides its own bursaries for students from lower income backgrounds who meet the high standards for admission onto our courses:- New undergraduate students on household incomes under £25,000 and in receipt of the full state maintenance grant will receive a bursary of £500
- New undergraduate students on household incomes between £25,000 and £30,000 will receive a bursary of £200
- New undergraduate students on household incomes between £30,000 and £40,000 will receive a bursary of £150
National Scholarship Programme (NSP)
- In 2012/13 Writtle College will offer free on-site term-time accommodation and ten meals per week for 15 students under the National Scholarship Scheme for their first year of study. This will be offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis according to when applicants accept an offer of a place. Applicants should make clear when they accept an offer that they wish to be considered for one of our National Scholarship places by completing the NSP Form NSP2012 (see link below)
- You can apply for a National Scholarship if your declared household income is £25,000 or less and you qualify for full government maintenance grant (as assessed by the Student Loans Company)
- new undergraduate entrants in the academic year 2012-13
- subject to the new fee rules
- must have firmly accepted a place at the Writtle College
- must have submitted a Writtle College Accommodation Request Form
- must have submitted an application for a National Scholarship award using Form NSP2012
Students will be sent an acknowledgement email to confirm that their application has been received. However, this is not confirmation that a Scholarship will be awarded. Awards will be made on the basis of students meeting all of the eligibility criteria. Applicants will receive confirmation of whether they have been selected for a Scholarship as soon as the eligibility criteria has been met and approved.
